In this Lenten and Easter season it is fitting to call attention to the fact that all the professors of the PRC Seminary preach regularly in the PR congregations, usually in the West Michigan area but also out of town. They consider it vital that those who are called to train others to preach God's Word and the gospel of Jesus Christ themselves continue to preach that Word and gospel. And they do. And they love to do this.
That includes during this time of year too, when we commemorate the suffering, death, and resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ. These saving acts of Jesus are the very heart of the gospel of grace and salvation, and so the professors also preach sermons focused on these acts in this time of year.
In this post we make mention of some recent sermons the professors have preached in various PRCs, encouraging you to listen to them for your own personal edification and growth in grace.
On March 15 in Faith PRC (Jenison, MI) Prof. B. Huizinga preached on John 19:28 and Jesus' fifth word from the cross, "I thirst." You may find that sermon at the link provided here.
On that same Sunday (March 15) Prof. B. Gritters preached a sermon on Jesus' suffering on the cross based on 1 Peter 2:13-25 and from the perspective of the Heidelberg Catechism (Lord's Day 16).
And, also on March 15, Prof. D. Kuiper delivered a sermon on Zechariah 13:7 under the theme "The Sword Directed Against the Shepherd."
As Easter Sunday approaches, look on SermonAudio for resurrection messages that our professors will preach.
